The time has come to publish the first round of Frisbee Photos! Readers may recall that in connection with The D&O Diary’s recent tenth anniversary, I offered to send out a D&O Diary tenth anniversary Frisbee to anyone who requested one – for free — but only if the Frisbee recipient agreed to send me back a picture of the Frisbee and a description of the circumstances in which the picture was taken.
We have mailed out dozens and dozens of Frisbees (and I would be remiss if I did not pause here to express my thanks to Mrs. D&O Diary, who organized the Frisbee mailing process). The early picture returns are starting to come in. If the first batch of pictures is any indication, the collective Frisbee photos will constitute a formidable gallery. Here a few pictures culled from the first batch.
The award for first Frisbee recipient to send in a Frisbee photo goes to Winona Newman, of CNA, in Atlanta, Georgia. She took her Frisbee photo at the Spoleto Festival USA in Charleston, S.C. Winona reports that the highlight of her trip to the Festival was seeing Oscar Wilde’s play “The Importance of Bring Ernest” performed by the Gate Theatre out of Dublin. She also reports that the Frisbee thoroughly enjoyed the play.
Brenda Maysonet of AON Financial Services in New York took her D&O Diary Frisbee for a day at the office, complete with a pizza lunch, while enjoying great views of the Brooklyn Bridge.
This picture, sent in by Dan Tyukody, the co-chair of the securities class action practice at the Greenberg Traurig law firm, was taken at the Chubb Preferred Counsel Meeting in Philadelphia in June. Dan is in the center of the picture, with Scott Meyer, President Chubb Financial Lines North America, on the picture’s left, and Michael Tannenbaum, Executive Vice-President Chubb Financial Lines North America, on the right side of the picture.
Fred Podolsky of Alliant Insurance Services sent in this picture of his dog, Winston (the Cockapoo). Winston may not read The D&O Diary, but he apparently is a big fan of the D&O Diary Tenth Anniversary Frisbee. (Fred, your dog is holding the Frisbee upside down.)
David Murray, of Starr Adjustment Services, sent in this picture with a view of Mount Saint Helens in the background.
This picture from Mayur Doshi of Odyssey Reinsurance Company of his five-year old son was taken at The Dinosaur Place in Montville, CT over the July 4th weekend. The park has over 40 life-sized dinosaurs and, as Mayur put it in his note to me, what better way to celebrate a 10-year anniversary than admiring creatures that roamed the earth 200+ years ago?!?!
No photo array in The D&O Diary would be complete without at least a picture or two from outside the U.S., and so here are some great pictures from Africa. Tracy Holm of Beazley took a Tenth Anniversary Frisbee with her on her recent visit to Lewa School, near Isiolo, Kenya. Tracy was in Kenya to run the Safaricom Marathon, held on the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. Funds raised go to anti-poaching and conservation as well as to support the local community. One of the projects the conservancy supports is Lewa School, as well as other local schools. Tracy brought back these great pictures of her visit to the school, but she left the Frisbee behind for the kids at the school.
Some readers may recall that before the Tenth Anniversary Frisbees there were D&O Diary mugs. I had a lot of fun publishing the many “mug shots” that readers sent in. I was pleased recently to receive a belated mugshot from Richie Leisner of the Trenam law firm in Tampa. Richie sent in several pictures from his recent trip to Peru. It is delightful to know that Richie carried his D&O Diary mug with him to Peru, which allowed his to take numerous pictures like the accompanying shot, complete with D&O Diary mug, from the Temple of the Sun in Ollantaytambo, Peru.
My thanks to everyone who has sent in pictures so far. Even with over one hundred D&O Diary Tenth Anniversary Frisbees mailed out already, we still have a few left for anyone who is interested – and who is willing to send back a picture – on a first-come, first-served basis. Just let me know if you would like one of the well-traveled and world famous D&O Diary Tenth Anniversary Frisbees. Please be patient if you request a Frisbee, our Frisbee order processing system will be operating more slowly during the summer months. Don’t be surprised if it takes us a few weeks to ship your Frisbee to you.
