The D&O Diary’s European sojourn continued this week with a stop in London. Fortunately, the beautiful weather we enjoyed in Paris followed us to London, where blue skies and warm sunshine prevailed throughout our visit. It was only a brief stop for us in London before heading on to other destinations, but it was still a great visit.

The D&O Diary is on assignment this week in Europe, with the first stop in the French capital city of Paris. I have been to Paris many times before, and in all kinds of weather. I have been in Paris in the snow, in the rain, and in the sunshine. However, I have never seen Paris as we experienced it over the past few days. We enjoyed a string of sunny, warm, clear, pleasant, summery days — the best word I can think of to describe the weather we enjoyed in Paris is “magical.”

The D&O Diary’s European assignment continued this past week with a visit to Andalusia, the Southernmost region of Spain. After the cool cloudiness of Northern Germany, the hot, brilliant Andalusian sunlight came as something of a shock. This was a first-time ever visit for us to the venerable and culturally rich cities of Sevilla, Cordoba, and Granada. Our expectations were high; our experience far exceeded our expectations.

The D&O Diary is on assignment this week in Europe, with a first stop in Frankfurt, Germany. I have been to Frankfurt on several prior visits, and the city’s streets, sites, and public transportation system are pleasantly familiar. The weather was cool and mostly cloudy for most of the visit, but just the same it was great being back and enjoying the city again.

The D&O Diary’s antipodean sojourn continued this week with a quick visit to the pleasant and prosperous country of New Zealand. Readers who saw my description of our recent Australia visit know we enjoyed beautiful summer weather while we were there. Although I would never had thought it possible, the summer weather in New Zealand may have been even better, as the pictures below show.

The D&O Diary was on assignment this past week in the Asia Pacific region, with the first stop in the great country of Australia. It is always great to be in Australia, but the Southern Hemisphere Summer is a particularly good time to be there. After a day or two of clouds and some rain on arrival, the weather turned particularly glorious, as reflected in the pictures below.

The D&O Diary’s sojourn in Asia continued last week with a visit to Penang, an island along the northwestern coast of peninsular Malaysia. In addition to being an island, Penang (along with a bit of the adjacent mainland) is one of the states in the Malaysian federation. We visited George Town, the state’s colorful and multicultural capital, located on the island’s Northeast. For a few brief days, we enjoyed Penang’s rich, diverse, and interesting sights, sounds, and tastes.

It was great to finally be back in Singapore after a three-year pandemic-caused hiatus. It was also great to see this dynamic attractive city again and to enjoy its many colorful sights and attractions.

This past week, The D&O Diary was on assignment in London. London has many attractions, but weather is not usually one of them. However, during the recent early July days while we were visiting, the weather was just great. As a result, we spent almost all of our time there exploring London out-of-doors.
