The D&O Diary’s European assignment continued this past week with a visit to Andalusia, the Southernmost region of Spain. After the cool cloudiness of Northern Germany, the hot, brilliant Andalusian sunlight came as something of a shock. This was a first-time ever visit for us to the venerable and culturally rich cities of Sevilla, Cordoba, and Granada. Our expectations were high; our experience far exceeded our expectations.

The D&O Diary is on assignment this week in Europe, with a first stop in Frankfurt, Germany. I have been to Frankfurt on several prior visits, and the city’s streets, sites, and public transportation system are pleasantly familiar. The weather was cool and mostly cloudy for most of the visit, but just the same it was great being back and enjoying the city again.

Readers who saw my description of our recent Australia visit know we enjoyed beautiful summer weather while we were there. Although I would never had thought it possible, the summer weather in New Zealand may have been even better, as the pictures below show.

It is always great to be in Australia, but the Southern Hemisphere Summer is a particularly good time to be there. After a day or two of clouds and some rain on arrival, the weather turned particularly glorious, as reflected in the pictures below.

The D&O Diary’s sojourn in Asia continued last week with a visit to Penang, an island along the northwestern coast of peninsular Malaysia. In addition to being an island, Penang (along with a bit of the adjacent mainland) is one of the states in the Malaysian federation. We visited George Town, the state’s colorful and multicultural capital, located on the island’s Northeast. For a few brief days, we enjoyed Penang’s rich, diverse, and interesting sights, sounds, and tastes.

It was great to finally be back in Singapore after a three-year pandemic-caused hiatus.
